Shaun, David Lyons from the Windy City Seals, and the Director of our Youth Group, has just joined Diversity in Aquatics. He also directed the Intro to SCUBA event in June for our Youth Group. He would be the one to ask about additional materials to add to the blog you mentioned previously.
Hello Shaun,
Thanks for the invite. Hope all is going great with you. We need to catch up. Let me know if you need anything from me from over here in San Diego. I am spreading the word.
Hi Shaun,
Just wanted to report to you that I had an awesome time in West Columbia, SC where John Cruzat was the guest speaker at the Brookland Bapt. Church. I got the opportunity to meet and speak with John, along with members of the Midland Make A Splash Committee. Marilyn Jeffcoat (Johnson) did a fantastic job in pulling off such a successful program. John, in his presentation, showed the video of Wanda Butts and the "Josh Project", which was well received by the 8000 member congregation(Mega Church). As a matter of fact, you should have seen the number of families signing their children up for the Make A Splash swim program. I was very proud to attend one of the meetings with the Make A Splash Committee, and not only did I represent DAP, but advised the committee to join us in our quest to do exactly what they are doing!!!! John assisted me in giving out the website so those who were not familiar with us, could check out our mission statement and pursuits. This was a program that will I never forget, but will use as a tool to utilize here in my neck of the woods--Mississippi. Will await your return, because I will need your input on an idea I have to get me started. Darrick aka dswimmerman
I almost picked up the phone to call you when I was listening to HearSay at lunch with Leslie and Regina. I called in with a question and started babbling about your program and affiliation with the Josh Project as if it was something they had never heard about. Turns out you're all connected already ;) Keep up the great work! Any camps coming up? I'd still like to help out...
Thanks! Good luck on the bus today and finding the pool. Can't wait to talk to you about an EXCELLENT idea that Regina and I came up with yesterday...........
when are you due home?
hey, going on a live radio show with Regina at 12:30 today - who sponsors Josh Project here - NSU or TAC or Mac? Want to get the right info out when talking about our two programs.
Really need to talk to you - RAPS could do some stuff in the winter possibly - talking with City of Norfolk about Huntersville pool - but want to talk to you first - Regina and I have come up with an idea that we want you involved in.
Hello Shaun, sorry it took so long to get back with you. For the past 2 month we have been working hard for our big day on August 10, 2008 when John Cruzat will address our congregation of 8000 members on Teens and Youth Day and Brookland Baptist Church, West Columbia, SC. We live in a state that blacks do not swim and some many have drowned this past 3 months. There are not swimming facilities in certain areas of the state (black communities) and the pools are segregated. My daughter is the only African-American on her high school swim team and year-round team. Also, we have one team that is all African-American who refuses to join with white teams. We have a lot of work here in South Carolina. The predominantly white schools have swim teams and the predominantly blacks schools do not. Check this out, when we go to swim meets, the white families get together to transport their children to the events and I have to travel alone. This got to stop and God spoke to me and I am going to do His will. I am 53 years old and will not stop until there is an change. Wish you could be here for the event.

Hey Shaun,
I finally put a photo on my page so you could put a name to a face. I also filled in my About me section. After August 2nd I will be done with Summer League and my schedule will be open. No more 8 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 6:15 p.m. practices. I look forward to working with you soon. Looks like we have a lot in common. My mom has been a professor at NSU since 1963. See you around.

Do you know of any DAPs in the Boston area?
Nick garnered a few T-16 times and the high point award at Age Group Champs. He got me psyched! Next goal: Junior National Team.
Give me a call sometime,
-Nate
