How did your summer go with your youth activities? We were very busy with scuba camps and ScubaJam. I do want to see more Black youth involved in our sport and our activities at Lake Rawlings, and our facility is a fantastic place to start. We can do it with more leaders like you on our side. Just trying to help a little bit. Take care.
You inquired how can certified kids participate our scuba camp program, and about cost. This is a lot of information to share here, but I can say that kids who are already certified can participate in the advanced diver activities for this level of certification. If they are already certified at this level, we can roll them into our PADI Master Scuba Diver Program. You can go to our website at www.LakeRawlings.com for a listing of our specialty certs (can be found on the "Staff" page for this info). Send me your email address, and I will be happy to send cost and other pertinent information. Thanks.
Unfortunately not, but however things turned out for her, I pray that she found what she was looking for. Even as of this time, I would be willing to assist her in any capacity possible. Thanks for getting back to me and letting me know. Take Care My Brother. Darrick
Hi Ken,
Long time, no hear from!!!!!! Did the lady from Jackson find a suitable swim program in Jackson? Just curious. Take Care My Brother and God Bless You. Darrick
Hi Ken,
I would love to meet the young lady from Jackson. I am one hour south of Jackson, and would be interested to hear her proposal as to the tiype of program she is interested in. Thanks for the consideration. She can call me at 601-519-7341 or she can email me at dswimmerman@yahoo.com.
I am from Savannah, GA and now live in North Carolina. My parents still live in Savannah and my father retired from SSC as head of the engineering Dept. Our website for the swim meet is www.blackheritageswimming.org.
Hi Kenneth,
I wanted to let you know about http://www.blueoceanfilmfestival.org/
It’s happening a little earlier than NABS/YES, but it may be fun to let those at the film festival know about your upcoming summit and more about DAP.
I may be going to this film festival and would be happy to make some connections there for you.
Best,
Jen
Hi Ken,
If ever in the near or distant future you want or decide to move the Youth Summit to a true camp setting, contact me or give me a call. I know that Lake Rawlings can lend itself to such a worthy activity, after all it is a scuba park. I have worked with Cliff Hicks of Black Dolphin Divers with their youth at our location in Brunswick County, VA. And do not think for a moment that I am trying to steal your thunder. Let's talk about it. Take care.

Dear Sir, I am trying to make contact with Dinizulu Gene Tinnie. Phone? Email? Would you be so kind as to assist me? Someone on the list suggested that I ask you.
Thanks Kenneth, thank you for inviting me! I read in the comments from others that congratulations are in order for your recent induction into NABS Hall of Fame. I add my hearty congratulations as well! I am looking forward to being a part of the Youth Summit this summer and to working with you.
Wishing you and yours a Very Happy Holiday Season!
I thank you brother, for taking the baton and achoring the relay to success. I admire what you, Lydia and others continue to do-- I wish that I were availble to still teach scuba to youth in the school setting, however, God sends me to other ventures-especially when one venture can be passed on, picked up and bettered with people like you and others that are truly interested in all children that want to dive safely. Please continue to do what you are doing and don't forget to keep me posted. I really missed attending the Summit this year (first one in 6 years). I am glad to hear that it was a safe one and only wish that I had been there to shake your hand at the ceremony--- know that I still support youth diving-( to hell with the old folks- let them FIN for themselves! smile! just kidding!) Be at peace, your brother in diving, Bruce NABS, C-91, L-41
Yes, I did make it to Curacao for 7 days summer 08.
My resort was wonderful and the diving was good--didn't see any seahorses and was frustrated that I kept having to end my dives with 1500 psi left in my tank.
It wasnt my best vacation,my dive camera was stolen, land camera was broken plus a list of other grievances.
However, I am looking forward to Mauii, or Belize Summer 09.
Thanks for asking and for the overall invite.

Ken,
It's good to hear that you have a Youth committee in place to plan
and implement activities for NABS' Youth initiative. Unfortunately,
I am not familiar with any of the other committee members besides
you, Jimi Mack, and Tina Houston, who is presently serving as NABS' Western Regional Representative. As I am aware of the
wonderful job that you are doing with the TAP organization, and
somewhat familiar with Jimi Mack's affiliation with the Christian
youth groups in Texas, I am interested in knowing if any of the
other committee members have any experience in working with
youth, as instructors, administrators, or organizers such as yourself? Also, I am hoping that the function of the committee is not limited to the NABS 2009 Youth Educational Summit in June of 2009. Like the parent organization, I think we should have ongoing activities for our youth. With Jimi Mack serving as committee member in charge of Youth Membership, hopefully an increase in activities and opportunities will also increase the youth membership. Another concern is whether or not the youth summit at Savannah State University will provide opportunities for the youth to go diving? Keep up the good work, and feel free to contact me if there is anything that I can do to help the cause.

Ken, Thank you for your response! I am only sorry that a larger number of youth will not be able to participate in this major youth function. I recently noticed that there is another major youth group out of Virginia, called S.E.A.L listed on the DAP network as new
members. You might want to check them out and possibly do some networking activities. -Ric P.
