Thanks for the feedback. I now have you on my list of instructors who are ready and able. Stay tuned! Yes, I am very aware of my unique situation having access to a pool at that time in Alabama. The pool was located near the housing project where I grew up as a reult of "White Flight". Whites left the public pool when they moved out running from the Blacks moving in. I am sure you know of this. Get this, would you believe there is a plan now to rename this same pool the Lee Pitts Swim Pool. I do a clinic there once a year. It has been remodeled and the politicians have used my work in aquatics to draw attention to the pool and the need to introduce more kids to the sport. It all goes back to those soda bottles. What a life :).

Rage on and do visit www.leepitts.com

Peace my friend. Your resume is marvelous!

Hi Errol,
I see you have made your way around the site pretty good, but
Welcome and hope you find it as informative and enjoyable as I have. You have a very impressive background, and it is going to take trend setters, such as yourself, and a few of our members, who will be instrumentall in getting the word out about how fun swimmimng is, as well as an enjoyable way to exercise. God Bless You. Darrick aka dswimmerman

Thanks for accepting my friend request. Well, if you ever make it to the West Coast let me know as well. We can head down towards Monterey or up my way on the North Coast and do some diving together.

Likewise should I make it out your way I'll definitely dive at your place.

Sorry I did not respond to your previous message. But you hit the nail on the head. We need to "undo the damage" and let people know about all of the positive things swimming has to offer and as Lee Pitts said, the doors it can open. We have to unlearn many things. The teaching at a young age is where it begins, but we need to build on that so it grows. Swimming needs to be something kids do the same way they play football or basketball. To quote Lee again, we need to push the fact that "Swimming is Fun!"

I am looking forward to working with you and others to answer your questions and create new ones as we move forward. The next steps are right around the corner...

Hey Errol,
I have given this very topic a lot of thought and have been asking for input across the nation via my travels and this website. We have much to share, and Diversity in Aquatics has some very big plans for the future, many of which we hope to ignite with our members. My hope is that we will continue to grow in numbers and then start to implement our plans and plant the seeds for change.

Hi Errol,
I am familiar with this web site from Sean Anderson at NSU, but I haven't had an opportunity to use it until now. Thanks for thinking of me. Gery

Hey Man,

New computer, have not transfered my photos yet. LOL. I'll get it done though. Just left comment on the Hampton swimming article though.

Mr. D! How have you been? I live in Petersburg, PADI cert., and desire to seriously get into the water, classes and further certifications. I have ben out of the water for about 2 years though and am going to do some refresher dives with Atlantis Divers out of Richmond. Once I get back in the water, can you advise me options on how to take a more active role in the sport?
