Hi Jayson, I was referred by a fellow swimmer and coach.  I am hoping to network with other swimmers because I am working on a research project that involves my history in swimming. I was told that I may gain a different perspective here.

Well, to make a long story short, I teach at MDC-Homestead and also for Nova Southeastern in a long-term benthic monitoring program. I have a student at MDC that is interested in marine archaeology, and the first person that came to mind is Brenda Altmeier. I worked with her husband (I think now ex) for 7 years. Anyway, I was trying to get my student in touch with Brenda.

Jayson: I heard about diversity in Aquatics from Ken Stewart at the recent National Association of Black Scuba Divers Summit. My wife is just now learning how to swim at the age of 51. Look forward to networking here.

HI Jayson, I was online looking for information for the 27th Black History Invitational Swim Meet in February. I've heard a lot of things about it. I would like my daughter to participate in this event. She is on a team in Southern New Jersey. I think this would be a great opportunity for her to compete with swimmers that look like her!

Hi Jason and thank you for letting me join Diversity in Aquatics.  I'm so excited.  My daughter who is is Sr is High School is working on an independent project in her Gov't class about how African Americans are 3 times more likely to drown (don't hold me to the accuracy of the figures!) and that over 70% of African American children cannot swim.  She's seeking to help promote swimming among minorities with and has just got in touch with the NE Swim Inclusion committee.  I saw and heard about Diversity in Aquatics through articles and interviews with Cullen Jones.    We're already on our way in helping and I'm so excited about the prospect (all in 24 hours!).

I’m doing research on how to start a non-profit youth swim team for the minorities in my community.

Hi Jason,

I was searching for information on continuing  my adult swimming lessons and reading material on minority drowning statistics. I came across diversity in aquatics and really liked what this group stood for. There has been a recent drowning incident with a 15 year old here in Arlington, TX and I was hoping I could get some information on how we as a community could figure something out to spread the word on water safety.

I stumbled across your site during a google search for "The Josh Project." I like how you are spreading awareness about aquatics.  We have just started a program in Kansas City, MO doing similar things in our community.

Hi Jayson, thanks for accepting my invitation. I joined because of the movie, "White Wash", which I'm just now reviewing. I went to school with one of the commentators, Lee Pitts. After a little research, I stumbled on this very fine site. I'm impressed with the mission/vision. Much needed. Best regards!

Trying to locate a old friend and this link came up so I clicked and just entered my information. It seem interesting. My daughter love to swim. I will do more research into the program to see how this link could benefit me and/or my daughter. Thank you for the acceptance. Enjoy your weekend. GOD bless.

Hello Jason, thanks for welcoming me to your site.  I first heard of the site on the National Black Heritage Championship Swim Meet website.  Like Shana I am a physical therapist.  I live in Trinidad, West-Indies where my two children, 7 and 10 and very enthusiastic swimmers.  I try to explore all available resources to assist them in reaching their goals.  I have promised them to learn to swim so we can have fun together at the pool.
