Ms. Eugenia, that is an excellent piece of history that I'm honored that you've shared it with me. I'm learning more and more each day that there are a collection of location where black folks swim through out the US, like your Aqua Demonettes of the Wabash Y, and the Polar Bears of Martha's Vineyard, and more people need to know this history.

Ms. Rose Grier, a 70 plus year old grandmother did not swim most of her life, but is now on a mission to learn how to swim and has been doing video interviews of blacks folks who do swim and she attended the Diversity in Aquatics Convention this past summer in Florida.  I'll tell her about you or you can look her up, she is a DAP member, I'm sure she would like to hear more about your experiences as a swimmer.

If you're ever on this side of the continent, please drop in and saw hello. I would also like to learn more about you, so I can share your story as a source of inspiration for our Adult Learn to Swim Students.
