Rattlers get off to impressive start versus Seminoles

The Rattler men got finally got the 2010-2011 season started against Florida State. The Seminoles won the meet 122-43, but there were a few bright spots for the men.

Here are some of the highlights from the meet:

Freshman Joel Sankar  got a stellar start to his collegiate career. Sankar, the lone winner for the Rattlers on the day, posted a time of 2:03.95 in the final individual event of the day, the 200 yard individual medley. His swim also earned a spot in the university history books, ranking him fourth overall in the men's top ten best times. He also had a strong swim in the men's 100 yard breaststroke.

Freshman Nik Rodgers represented the Rattlers very well in the sprint events. He picked up two third place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle (:23.66) and the 100 yard freestyle (:53.98)

Jeremy Latimore earned a thrid place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:32.72 to begin his college career.

Senior Akie Smythe began his season right where he left off last year at the CCSA Championships. He posted a time of 1:05.41 in the 100 yard backstroke which is a four tenths faster than his time at the conference championships last year in Tennessee.
