Happy Spring! I hope this finds you in good spirits and enjoying the wonderful weather. Below you will find information on the latest happenings and events comming up in the Potomac Valley area. Eastern Zone Diversity Select Camp (June 16-19)
Applications and selection criteria are available on the PVS and Diversity in Aquatics websites. www.pvswim.org/diversity.html. The due date for the athlete and coaches application is May 9th. All are encouraged to apply. PVS covers up to $300.00 for the lodging and travel expenses for each of the athletes and coaches attending the camp. It is encouraged that PVS submit athletes and coaches to participate. Applicants will be selected by the PVS Diversity Committee on May 14th and canidates will be notified shortly afterwards.

PVS House of Delegates Meeting – River Falls, MD (May 23rd @ 6:00pm)
(From Flash) The annual House of Delegates meeting is set for Monday, May 23 at River Falls. Dinner will be served at 6:00 and the meeting will start at 6:45 pm. It is strongly encouraged that at least one representative from each club attend. In addition to your club's representative, please ask an athlete to attend as well. The list of delegates is now posted on the PVS website, if you need to make a change to your club's representative please let Terri Marlin pvadmn@pvswim.org know as soon as possiblePlease submit the names of your athlete delegate to Terri no later than May 18.

 2nd Annual Water Safety Day – Deanwood Community Center, D.C

The 2nd Annual Water Safety Day is scheduled for May 21st.  The Water Safety Day program will feature fun-filled water and non-water activities for both the experienced and non-experienced swimmer.  We have a number of local aquatic groups coming in to display their teams and share their tips about water safety. Please check the flyers on the PVS Website for more details about the event. www.pvswim.org/diversity.html All PVS groups are welcome to participate.  Please contact Miriam if you would like to have your team volunteer
National Black Heritage Meet in Cary, NC (May 27-29)
We currently have 80 athletes signed up for the travel team down to the 9th National Black Heritage Meet in Cary, NC through DC Wave. On Saturday, April 16th there was a parents meeting and swim clinic for the participants. Mr. Douglas Carrington formerly head coach of FAMU Swim and Dive team lead the clinic with coaches Rob Green and Crosby Treadwell. Dr. Rhonda Waller conducted the parents meeting and shared information with participants about the logistics of the meet. Thank you to all who attended and DC Wave for coordinating the entries and parents meeting. Our next practice is Saturday, May 14th from 11-1:00pm @ Takoma Park Recreation Center in DC. Video of the clinic from Saturday, April 16th will be available soon. Check the PVS and DAP websites for updates.
