The Florida chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics spearheaded an innovative initiative.  They write prescriptions for water safety and swimming classes for infants and toddlers.  The result?  Safer children and more aware parents.

The concept is simple.  Parents look to, and trust, their child’s doctor to keep their child safe and healthy.  Pediatricians have found that if they write a prescription, parents are far more likely to follow-up, especially if the doctor is asking about progress at the next visit.

Now Arizona is starting the same program.  What about your state?  Contact your governor, legislators, and your state’s branch of the American Academy of Pediatrics and let them know you support this initiative.  There is a website that provides all the information about the program and how to implement the program successfully in your state.
