Did you know that today starts the 2014 CARIFTA Championships? The CARIFTA Games which stands for Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA) is an annual athletic event for young athletes to represent their country. It has been known to be the starting point of several World and Olympic champions and medallists from the Caribbean. In 2002, the #CARIFTA Aquatics Championships was broadened from just swimming to include the disciplines of water polo and synchronized swimming events. In 2013 the Open Water event was introduced for the first time.(CIS) This year the aquatic portion of #CARIFTA (also has Track and Field) is held in Aruba. Check out the aquatic action and cheer some of these young talented athletes as they complete in several aquatic events this weekend.
