Anthony Ervin Named Spokesperson for International Water Safety Day!

Anthony Ervin, US Olympic Swimming Gold Medalist, former World Record Holder & World Champion has become an official spokesperson for International Water Safety Day (IWSD).

Took a quick trip to DC this past weekend for the DC Parks & Rec Conference, they have a huge project in the works entitled “Generation Swim”, the plan is to combine the resources of Parks & Rec with the public schools in the district.  It will be interesting to see how the project unfolds.

USA Swimming Convention - Jacksonville, FL

Just landed in Jacksonville, Fl for the 2011 USA Swimming Convention.  If you want to make a difference in the world's most successful team this is where you need to be.  The biggest US Olympic National Governing Body with a membership of over 300,000 equals a huge impact worldwide.  Staff doesn't get to vote at the board of delegates meeting.  So DAP members please get involved with your LSC and be here next year!

While in Detroit this past weekend I took some down time to check out the Motown Museum- Hitsville, USA!!    As  I was learning more about Mr. Gordy, how he inspired artists and built the Motown empire I couldn't help but see the correlation in mentoring, teaching, coaching and building a team.  I think this quote speaks to the idea of helping provide the tools for children to maximize their potential and reach for greatness in any endeavor.

Detroit Clinic @ Brennan Pools with University of Michigan

I spent this past weekend in Detroit at Brennan pools, a swimming relic consisting of 3 long course pools that served as the venue for the 1956 Olympic Trials.
