Hi Terrance:
Would you like to join the FLOAT & Josh Project Groups? I would appreciate it if you would. Thank you and thanks for the interview on Saturday - it was nice to meet you. I hope that your efforts for water safety in the schools is embraced and recognized as the life skill it is. Good Luck!! Josh's mom wanda
Hi there. My son Derrick is a freshman diver at GMU, and he's the only person of color on the dive team. I'm not quite sure about diversity on the swimming side, but from what I can see far away across the pool during the meets, there are a couple of black swimmers. I'm sure there are other ethnic minorities but I'm not sure.
As far as the coaches, no diversity there. But in my son's case, it's much more important for him to have a nurturing knowledgeable no-nonsense coach, and GMU's dive coach embodies those things. My son has become a much better diver as a result of having Roland as his dive coach. I've met Peter, the head swim coach but don't know him at all.
The school is a good one for sure, we have no complaints about GMU. I admire your daughter for focusing on her studies, especially since they can't/won't major in "sports participation." LOL My son was recruited by GMU to dive, so that was the biggest factor in his decision of where to go to college.
let me know if you have other questions, and continued good luck.
by the way, I see you and I have related professions. I've spent more than 25 years as a TV producer and on-camera host. maybe we'll chat someday.
I am curious about "Giving Angels Wings" - can I view it or can you tell me more about it? I believe in angels and the ones I see have wings...I am curious about that...I hope you will explain when I meet you. Also I would like to invite you to join us in The Josh Project Group. Pease, love & joy.....Josh's mom wanda
