Swimming for the Soul

Posted on April 19, 2012 at 7:14pm 0 Comments

From the WashingtonPost.com, by Lynn Sherr:

To call swimming a religious experience might sound like sacrilege.

But for many of us, every time we slip into a bikini, or plunge into the ocean, or pound out our laps, we’re actually taking part in a spiritual rite. Swimming is an ancient activity, combining the mystical properties of waters with the pure joy of…

USRowing Diversity Invitational Recap

Posted on August 5, 2011 at 12:55pm 0 Comments

On July 30 my wife and I had the honor and privilege to attend the First Annual USRowing Diversity Invitational. For those of you who have never been to Rochester, I highly suggest you make a visit. I honestly felt as if Rochester is the friendliest city I have ever been to. Upon arriving to city limits, we…

Hi Jayson

I was just here in my shop trying to figure out why the local community here=
is so afraid of the water. The few actually now more then a few local Stand=
Up Paddlers That I have gone on board are natural waterman, i even noticed i=
t when I did a free SUP camp for the kids here. But I had a feeling the fe=
ar was linked with slavery that was here on St Croix.
I was doing some research online when I came acrossWhite Wash and was inspir=
ed by Rick Blocker.
My little shop is called Freedom City Surf board shop and I have flags all a=
round about be the change that you want to be.
Since then my son who is now 16 and good friend Bill and myself have introdu=
ced back to the community the world of Surf& SUP and skateboarding.
A friend of ours just built a simple halfpipe for the community right here o=
n the beach.
A really kool thing a Rasta man said was "wow I have seen this on tv and now=
it's here ... Thank You"
That hit home for us:)
Now it's a matter of taking it all to the next level.
So on hearing Ricks story on how he started with skateboarding and the headi=
ng into the water.. Is exactly what is happening here with the kids.
We to want to promote and encourage the sport of SUP, Surf and skateboarding=
and give the kids a sense of belonging
And to motivate and encourage them to reach their goals.=20
And love the sea that is there's=20

USA Swim Site... been trying to reach you to Manny for weeks via phone or email but I got no reply.  Please ask someone in your office to reply my several requests for assistance in regards to low income aquatics programing and funding.  Thanks  Alan

I  was looking into the adapted aquatics conferences and information as I do periodically and came across the page again, thinking I should join.  I try to stay abreast  of new information in the aquatics field.
