More about me:
Dane started the Metro Parks Tacoma swim program as a volunteer coach with only four athletes. Currently the program includes ten unique programs supporting 420 marginalized youth, 40% of whom qualify for free/reduced lunch. Dane's manages a staff of 32 employees, including 24 female, 21 People of Color, and multiple “out” members of the LGBTQ+ community. Dane has authored twenty community initiatives; five of which have fully launched and eleven currently in progress. In 2018, Metro Parks was awarded a national grant for creating a no-experience swim team targeting sheltered and homeless youth.

As the Diversity & Inclusion Chair for the Pacific Northwest LSC, Dane has overseen the development and implementation of several diversity and inclusion initiatives, including three nation-leading programs: LGBTQ+ Show-Your-Pride Campaign, Inclusive Education Program, and Economic Inclusion. Dane has also made Pacific Northwest the first LSC to bring athletes with disabilities under the D&I umbrella.

Check out Dane's research about why people from marginalized communities choose not to continue participation in activities featured in the IJARE/DIA special issue at: https://scholarworks.bgsu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1435&...
