Lol @ Naji, that water is cold like in the mid 60s so don't think it's going to happen without a wetsuit. Although, we do have one guy who breaks out the Vaseline every year and does the swim without one.

I've been competing in triathlons since 2006, however, swimming is my weakest leg. Over the years I've improved from being last out of the water to middle of the pack and I've grown to really enjoy open water swimming. I'm one of the founders of Tri Unify, a triathlon club working to bring more blacks into the sport and my high school and college background is in Track and Field.

The open water race in Detroit (Belle Island) that I was telling you about is this Saturday the 14th. It is hosted by some local Detroit area Swim Teams. Please let your Detroit chapter know about the event. Even if they just come out to cheer, I think that it is important that we support their efforts. By the way they are accepting race day entries so let me know if you’ll be flying out to swim! Hope to see you there!
