Call for Convention Speaker / Presenters
Enjoyed the this year's Diversity in Aquatics Convention and would like to present in next year? These guidelines listed below relate to research symposiums, oral presentations, and posters for Convention held in Miami, Florida.
Prior Presentation of Research (Oral Abstract Presentations and Posters Only): The research you plan to present must not have been presented elsewhere prior to the convention, and was not to have already been accepted for publication at the time of abstract submission.
The theme for the convention is “Action Ignited.” We are looking for a variety of presentations to appeal to aquatics and water safety.
We are hoping that you would be interested in presenting at the summit. The Call for Presenters deadline is February 1. If you submitted a proposal, you will be contacted in mid-February. Form to present at the convention
Guidelines relating to non-research presentations accepted under the Diversity in Aquatics submission categories are available below. We hope this information is useful in helping you prepare your presentation(s)and participation.
You must register and pay the appropriate convention registration fee (full or one-day) to present your research. 2018, DAP Diversity in Aquatics at http://www.diversityinaquatics.com/convention
Badges will not be mailed prior to the convention. If you have pre-registered, self-registration stations will be available in the registration area of the Miami Marriott, to retrieve your badge and registration information.
If you have not paid or have to make changes to your registration, please find a staff member to make these arrangements.
You are responsible for your own travel expenses to attend the convention unless other arrangements have been made. DAP does not reimburse these expenses.
Symposiums: Each lecture room will include a head table, a podium, one (1) podium microphone, and one (1) lavaliere microphone. Wireless microphones will NOT be provided for lecture presentations.
Oral Abstract Presentations: Please plan your presentation for 12 minutes so that there will be time for a 3-minute question period at the conclusion of each presentation in the session. Each lecture room will include a head table, a podium, one (1) podium microphone, and one (1) lavaliere microphone. Wireless microphones will NOT be provided for lecture presentations. Further details will be provided at a later date.
Non-Panel Formal Presentations: Each presentation/paper has been grouped into a cohort of 3 small sessions primarily based on a common topic, approach, or context. Each presentation will be allotted a total of 20 minutes with an additional approx. 5 minutes for Q&A. The session information (i.e moderator, details) will be available for you closer to the conference.
Posters: A 4’ x 8’ board will be provided to display your poster. The font type should be large enough so that it can be read from at least three feet away.
The network functions the same as most other networks. Free internet is available in the lobby, pool and meeting room areas of the hotel. If you require internet access outside of those areas, you may access The Miami Marriott WiFi network for a set price of $9.99 for regular access or $12.99 for high-speed access. If you are a Marriott Rewards Member, you have access to the free internet during your stay. During the sessions conducted in the meeting room during the convention, participants will have access to free internet service. In the web browser of your device, select the code name given during registration to be connected to the internet. The speed of connectivity and service is not guaranteed. We suggest that you test the connection in your assigned meeting room before your session. Be prepared to modify your presentation should the service not meet your needs.
