Many people look on with odd looks when they find out that I swim in open water. Then they're eyes widen when I say it warms to - at best - 60F in the summer and as low as 48F in the winter. They can never understand us crazy South End Rowing Club members and why we do what we do. I tell them that even though swimming The English Channel, circumnavigating Manhattan Island, swimming in shark and seal infested waters might seem like a pinnacle to many outside the open water community, here at the my little old club we just see it as another summit reached and look forward to the next.
I'm happy and honored to be apart of DAP and I am also happy to express my love and appreciation for my swim club here in good ole' San Francisco. Below is a photo tribute that a buddy of mine from the club made. I hope you'll enjoy it and maybe you'll feel compelled to drop by when your in my neck of the woods for a swim. i promise I'll keep the sauna hot for ya!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Naji & the South End Rowing Club! Great Great video - looks like everyone was having a great fun filled time. No one looked cold at all in those 45 degree temps. Thanks for sharing...........I am proud to say that I made progress this week in my swiimming lesson. For the 1st time ever....I kicked from one end of the pool to the other. Such a milestone for me!!! I will "Keep Swimming".................Love ya! Wanda jean
