Must read this WSJ article to understand how to ride this new wave of minority participation in distance running events. We already know that these new athletes can/will benefit from swimming and multi-sport training for fitness and/or recovery. We can focus on strengthening and forming new strong partnerships.
Runners dominate the sport of triathlon on the international and Olympic stages, not swimmers, nor cyclist, great runners dominate.
