America Rows help young people who are under represented in the sport of rowing feel included.  A 16 year old answered this question:
What was your FIRST opinion of rowing?
 My first opinion of rowing is that it’s probably an expensive sport. Would I be accepted, being a minority (Mexican American).  Can rowing become a vital tool to enroll to colleges, can I be accepted.
