I just authored four different grant proposals to establish some new camps in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Most of what I put there is online now, but I'd love to get your ideas as these are working documents. If the plans get a favorable review, we'll need lesson plans and more details, of course.

Each camp is to go for five weeks, July 12 to Aug 13, 2010. Camps are in the afternoon as the students have literacy activities (school work) in the mornings from 9 am to noon. Kids get free breakfast and lunch. There are no charges to the kids to do the camps. And the kids need to be going into grades 6, 7 or 8 to be attend.

Proposed camps:

Swim and Water Polo Camp

Junior Lifeguard Camp

Olympic Sports Camp

Sports Manager and Entrepreneur Camp

So, the camps and all the RFPs for summer engagement in Pittsburgh for 2010 got twisted and put on hold. There are problems with the PA Budget and the stimulus money got altered, somehow. They are going to re-issue the RFP and make it hinge only upon Title 1 Funds. So, a strict academic proposal is necessary. Dang.
Please keep me posted about the camps. Do you have time to talk about the camps on more detail? I would like to come out to the camp if possible.
