WHO BENEFITS - All children ages 12-17 who are affiliated with a NABS scuba club, Boys/Girls Clubs of America, Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, or a Church Youth Group can benefit from a one-week scuba camp program at Lake Rawlings.
THE YOUTH - PADI and other leading scuba diving agencies have already approved a scuba diving program for Boy and Girl Scout programs. NABS has sanctioned scuba diving activities for youth who participate with their scuba program activities. This presents a tremendous opportunity for church and youth leaders to become involved with these youth at the grass roots level. There are many boys and girls within these agencies who want to become involved with our sport.
SCUBA CAMPING FOR YOUTH - Older youth will enjoy a planned scuba camp program. This program gives young people experiences that will help them mature into responsible, moral, caring and hard-working adults. Several goals for scuba camp youth include:
> Experience a program that is fun and full of challenges and adventure;
> Serve as a program resource for other groups;
> Acquire skills in the area of adventure sports and hobbies;
> Experience positive mentorship from adult and other youth leaders; and
> This is an opportunity to grow and develop in a supportive and fun environment.
HOW IT WORKS - Partner with a NABS, Boys or Girls Club, a Boy or Girl Scout Troop, or a Church Youth Group to serve youth, and then bring your group to Lake Rawlings for fun and adventure. A youth group is a minimum of six youth and maximum of 18 youth who desire to do an adventure Scuba Camp at Lake Rawlings. With this minimum of six youth, the group can cabin or tent camp one week, and the program includes admission for scuba diving, cabin and/or tent camping and the use of one shelter per group. It also provides scuba instruction, the use of our state-of-the-art scuba equipment, textbooks, scuba certification and a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver DVD loaner. Food and cooking are not included, but arrangements can be made with the food vendor who services Lake Rawlings. The goup leaders are responsible for all meals.
The group chaperones and diving leaders attend free, one each per six youth or mixed sex group. For the 5-day Scuba Camp Program, a youth group and all adult advisors/chaperones will arrive at Lake Rawlings on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., and leave the following Friday by 2:00 p.m. We have identified two potential weeks for camping between July 10th-15th and August 7th-12th, 2011.
SPONSOR A YOUTH CREW - Youth groups sometimes have a need for sponsors and partners. A youth group can be a great asset to a business, church or a recreation center. Those youth who are interested in diving will champion the business, church or organization to their friends and family for a very long time. Become their hero - BRING THEM TO A PLACE TO ENJOY SCUBA DIVING, like Lake Rawlings!
