Each year Diversity in Aquatics Program honors those individuals who are a part of the mission to help further the mission of curving the drowning statistics, increasing swimming competency among underserved /underrepresented communities, and increasing aquatic sports participation, for fitness, recreation, health, competition, and professions, for youth and adults.
There is a total of 7 awards given each year at the Diversity in Aquatics Convention. They are:

Diversity In Aquatics, James (Jim) Ellis Award
This award recognizes a teacher, researcher or coach who has demonstrated exceptional personal achievement and extraordinary accomplishment in the field of aquatics that transcends normal expectation, and who is or was an example and inspiration to their community.

Diversity In Aquatics, Arthur Andrew Lopez J.D. - Nadar Por Vida Award
This award is issued to honor the volunteer work of an individual or youth - servicing organization for the extraordinary amount of their time, energy and/or resources dedicated to water safety education and community empowerment, benefiting the least served.

Diversity In Aquatics, Maritza Correia McClendon Award
Awarded to an athlete of African and/or Hispanic descent. This award recognizes a high-level achievement of from personal effort or initiative in an aquatic sport.
